Charlotte Wiley, School Secretary
Charlotte Wiley is one of nine children, has a fraternal twin sister and was raised in a Catholic home in Jamestown, New York. In her preteen years her family left the Church and at the age of sixteen, she encountered a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and became involved in a local Protestant congregation.
She attended Goshen College in Indiana and while there she spent one semester in Honduras where she sensed an urging from God to become a nurse and a missionary.
She later attended Indiana Wesleyan University for nursing where she met her future husband, Gary. They have been married 46 years, have three children and eleven grandchildren. When they met, Gary had been called to Protestant ministry and missions. This mutual call took them to Lima, Peru, for fifteen years as missionaries with the Wesleyan Church.
Soon after 9/11 they moved to New York City and worked with a non-denominational congregation where Gary was pastor and Charlotte worked as a registered nurse. During their later years there, God inspired Gary with a deep desire to enter the Catholic Church. Charlotte, on the other hand, was not willing to convert (yet!). Within a year, because she did not want to be separated from Gary regarding their religious faith, she asked Jesus for a sign to help her consider the Catholic Church. Jesus provided that sign on March 1, 2015* and she immediately committed to return to her roots in the Faith.
At the Easter Vigil on March 26, 2016, Charlotte reverted to the Holy Catholic Church along with her husband Gary. She has been eager to encourage others to also seek Jesus more deeply regarding in the beauty and truth of the Church.
Charlotte has worked for the Knights of Columbus doing transcriptions, was a nurse at St. Peter’s school in New Jersey, and until recently served at Our Lady Of Hope Clinic as the medical assistant supervisor, phlebotomist and bilingual interpreter.
In July of 2024 Charlotte accepted a position as the Administrative Assistant at St. James School. She has a strong commitment to help children understand today’s world, especially through the lens of the beauty of the Catholic Church. Her passion is to help others understand the truth of the Faith and especially that of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.
*If you want to know more about the sign, ask her about it!
