Father Andrew Showers, Parochial Vicar
I was born and raised on the east side of Madison, and I graduated from LaFollette High School in 2006. My father passed away three years ago, but my mother still lives on the east side, and I have three siblings who live in the area. I attended UW-Milwaukee after high school to study architecture, finishing my degree in 2010.
During my time in college, I became more involved at the Newman Center, learning more about the beauty of our faith and making it my own. After college, I spent a year applying for jobs and spending more time in silence and prayer, discerning where God was calling me. Seminary took me to the University of St. Thomas (MN) to study philosophy. +Bishop Morlino then sent me to Rome for theological studies, where I completed my advanced degree (S.T.L) in Liturgical Theology. I was ordained a deacon at St. Peter’s Basilica (Sept. 29, 2016) in Rome, and then a priest at St. Maria Goretti the following summer.
My first assignment was at St. Paul’s Student Center, before becoming the pastor of a rural parish in Clinton, WI. I enjoy learning about the history and reasons for why we believe what we believe, as the beauty of our faith is found in the “why?” I enjoy books, art, cooking, traveling, history, hockey, lacrosse, and skiing (to name a few). I look forward to meeting all of you and beginning the next chapter of our journey toward sainthood together!
