Athletic Program

E-mail Print PDF
Athletics are student activities that provide experiences to help girls and boys develop a Christian attitude toward cooperation and competition as well as to develop physically, mentally and emotionally. Athletics should enhance and complement the education program at St. James.

Participation in athletics, both as a player and as a student spectator, is an integral part of the educational experience. PARTICIPATION IS A PRIVILEGE that carries with it responsibilities to the team, to the school, to the coaches and to the parish. Qualifiers for participation in the athletic program are desire to learn, individual student effort, academic progress and student behavior. If a student is absent from school during the school day, he/she should not come to practice that afternoon or evening.

Teachers and coaches keep the principal informed if a student's grades and or behavior need attention. Parents are then informed and the student has an opportunity to improve. If after two weeks, there is no improvement the student will be off the team until improvement occurs.
