We welcome visitors and especially volunteers in the classrooms. Do consider giving some time to working in the classrooms one hour a week or a month. We value any time you can share with us – in the library, in the classroom, in the computer room, as office helper, as coaches, and on committees.
Parents are expected to volunteer as playground supervisors or as hot lunch helpers 10 times each school year. This is about a 45 minute commitment. A volunteer sign up form will be sent home.
A diocesan policy requires us to have volunteers complete a Volunteer Disclosure Form. The policy states that “any person other than a parish or school employee who is responsible for the independent supervision of children at a parish or school activity or event, or a parish or school sponsored activity, must be pre-screened using the same procedure for conducting criminal record background checks as required by DBA 4112.”
Every volunteer also must attend a workshop called “Protecting God’s Children.” Call the school office for more information regarding time and places of workshops. Workshops are held at St. James and at many other places in the city.
